scrapbooking papersSeven Tips For Successful Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is an excellent way to preserve keepsakes. It can also be a worthwhile and rewarding hobby. If you are just starting out, you may be interested in some tips and ideas to make a better scrapbook.

1.    Make sure that you have everything the way you want it. Do not get in a hurry to paste everything into place. In fact, pasting should be one of the last things that you do.

2.    Back up important items before using them. Photos are moments frozen in time that can never be recaptured. Any photos that you use for your book should have copies. If you make a mistake and ruin a picture, it will be gone forever, unless you have extra copies.

3.    Your page will have flow and tell a story if you choose one picture as your focal point. The top left hand corner is a good place for your focal point. This is usually the first place that people look.

4.    There is not much that you cannot use for your scrapbook. Anything that has sentimental value can be used. This includes leaves, flowers, twigs, buttons, and locks of hair.

5.    You can accent things with ribbons. Place ribbon around a photo to make it stand out. You might consider making holes in the page and lacing ribbon through it.

6.    You can add custom fonts to your pages. Write out things that you want to say on separate paper, and cut each letter out. Paste them in at any angle that you wish.

7.    Use your imagination and do not be afraid to be different. There is no set rule for things that you “have” to do. Make up your own rules.
